Tim Scott - Our Tribute
'Tetratimmy'
1964-2019
Vice Chairman, Mariners of Bewl
Sailor, Sportsman, Safeguarding Officer, Fundraiser, Disability Awareness RYA Trainer.
We are very sorry to announce the untimely death of Tim Scott, who was suddenly taken ill 2 weeks ago, and died shortly afterwards in hospital. Our thoughts go out to Nicole, his wife, and to his family and friends at this very, very, difficult time.
Our club has lost an exceptional man. Tim’s accident undoubtedly left him with challenges and frustration in shedloads, and yet over the years he developed and sustained an output of projects and personal goals that were an inspiration to his colleagues and friends. Our club has been the beneficiary of his many deeds, his great belief in what we do, his vision of what we could achieve, and he will live on in MoB for many years through the many contributions he has made. Thank you, Tim.
(Duncan, Chairman)
Tim was our Vice Chairman, serving enthusiastically on our committee and organising fundraising events for us. He had been a member of Mariners of Bewl since 2012. His friendly and inspirational presence will be sorely missed by all of our members. Tim was not only dedicated to sailing, but he also competitively played wheelchair rugby and completed numerous energetic challenges, including his annual push up Snowden with Back Up.
Tim enjoyed dinghy racing and over the past few years had competed in National Sailability Regattas as far away as Weymouth and Rutland. He was very well regarded within the Sailability community as a fantastic source of knowledge and experience. He sailed an RS Venture Connect and because of his enthusiasm to help others was able to assist RS in adapting and improving their boats to benefit other sailors.
Over the past two years Tim had been a mastermind behind our Big Lift Project and thanks to him we were able to launch our new hoist facility this year. Tim’s technical knowledge and skills were invaluable in the design and installation of the project.
Tim inspired everyone around him and overcame every challenge with gusto. He will be fondly remembered by us all for a long time to come.
(Carolyn, Secretary)
And some Tributes from some of our members:
Oh, how our vision of the world has changed. Tim was such an example of how to ‘catch a tiger by the tail’ he filled his life with twenty-four hours a day of daring do, always up for a challenge and looking for the next adventure. An example to us all.
(Jennie)
He would be there striding out in his chair or whatever he had been adapting, nothing ever held him back. So long Tim thanks for all your words of encouragement over the years the laughs and being told off for doing things wrong. I didn’t know where to put the excess rope (well, I almost said where, but had change of heart after getting ‘the look’!)
(M)
I was very sad to hear of Tim's untimely passing. In the time that I knew him he was very kind and helpful to me. Most of all he was such an inspiration to all of us and will be a great loss to all of us members of MOB.
